On our way from North Dakota to California during our reassignment, we
stopped by my parents' house in Colorado Springs. They own a cabin up in the
Rockies, and we all went up for some fresh air and relaxation.
Aside from the fact that we saw a bear as we were hiking back to
Justine's Jeep, this really doesn't even
qualify as an "adventure." We didn't do any real four-wheeling, we
just followed a dirt road as far as we could before hiking to the peak of this
ridge. In fact, we have very few pictures of the Jeep at all.
However, it was a chance to get Justine's rig off the beaten path and enjoy
the beautiful mountains of Colorado. While Grandma and Grandpa watched the
kids at their cabin nearby, Justine and I took to the hills for a little bit.

Here's the first of the shots we took of
Justine's Jeep on our little hike. Since
we took so few pictures of the Jeep itself, I've included them all.

We parked the Jeep here and hiked up to the peak
of this little ridge.

Cool picture of Justine's Jeep ready to move
on along the trail.

Almost the same shot, with just a little more
foreground to give it depth.

This picture really doesn't show just how expansive
this plateau was. We took a ton of pictures of the scenery around us, but I've
only included a few. The view up there was magnificant.

More shots of the plateau. There's just nothing
like being there, though.

Last shot of the scenery.

My very best "hero pose" on top of a
rock outcropping on the peak of the ridge.

The rest of the pictures are of Justine with the
incredible view as a backdrop.

Nice shot with the mountains in the background.

Finally, a smile!
