Jeep

This was our first real Jeep event, and what really got us hooked on four-wheeling and Jeepin'. This was the first Camp Jeep ever held in California. We hope they continue to have them every year. (We've read on Jeep's website that they won't, though. C'mon, Jeep! Come back next year!!)

We spent the first day doing some of the events and activities at the "base camp." They had tons of stuff to do for the kids, craft tents, vehicle displays, a "confidence course" and live music.

The real fun was on the trails, though. We didn't get many pictures while we were wheelin', though. We spent most of our time holding on and negotiating terrain. We really hope they do this again next year!

Photos:

Jeep family Here's our family at the entrance to the main area. We were really excited. There were hundreds of Jeeps there!
Aspen and Daddy Aspen spent a lot of time up on my shoulders each day. It gave her a bird's eye view of everything, and kept us moving along!
Signing the board They had this really cool board set up near the entrance where everyone could sign. We all signed our names and put where we live.
Lucky Devil! You can see the "Lucky Devil" in the middle of this picture.
Coloring the mural Near the kids' tent, they had a huge coloring poster that anyone could come and color. By the time the event was over, it was almost completely colored.
More coloring Aspen and Ambrosia had a blast coloring the giant poster.
Tugger the Jeep Inside the kids' tent they had the creator of a Jeep-endorsed cartoon: Tugger the Jeep. They had a display with the Jeep that inspired the creator, and a TV playing the cartoon. It was pretty neat.
Mini Jeeps Outside the kids' tent, they had a track with some little electric Jeeps for the kids to drive.
Lap 2 Ambrosia was barely small enough to fit in and drive one of them. It's a good thing, too. Aspen wasn't old enough to drive on her own yet.
More little Jeeps They made lap after lap in their mini Jeep before we moved on to more fun.
Ambrosia's smile Ambrosia was having a lot of fun.
Lining up for the trail Day two. We signed up for a trail ride. When we got to the staging area for the trails, there were a lot of Jeeps lined up and ready to go. Aspen got really excited when she saw all the Jeeps.
Climbing the dusty hills Before departing on our trail, we got to watch another group get started. They took off up this really steep hill, kicking up dust the whole way. The dust there was miserable the whole weekend.
The girls in the Jeep Here are the girls getting ready to pile into Justine's Jeep. The kids were getting really excited.
Jeep family Someone was nice enough to take this picture of us all.
tons of Jeeps Before taking off, I climbed up a nearby hill and took some pictures of the mass of Jeeps lining up to hit the trails.
Justine in the crowd You can see Justine's Jeep right in the middle of this picture.
Inflatable Jeep While I was up on the hill, I took a snap of the giant inflatable Wrangler they had at Camp Jeep. Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures while we were on the trail. We were too busy enjoying it to take pictures!
After the trail The trail was a ton of fun, though. Ambrosia shows her approval by giving the thumbs up. We were hooked.
The girls after the trail Great shot of the girls in front of Justine's very dirty, and very happy Sahara.
Proud mother! Proud mother!
Live in concert Day three. On the last day, they had a bunch of bands lined up. The headliner was Live, which just happens to be one of Justine's favorite bands. We got a spot right in front of the stage. It was a great show.
Thank you, Jeep! On our way out, we took this shot next to this big banner. They had a bunch of these with "everyday heroes" such as firefighters, police, military and medical folks. We really appreciate that they did that.
Big smile after a great time Last shot before heading home at the end of a great weekend. This was it. We are hooked. Our checkbooks will never be the same.
