Jeep

We heard about this trip from a good friend of ours and jumped at the chance to take Justine's Wrangler out again. What we didn't know is that this was a camping trip.

Not that there's anything wrong with camping trips or anything. We just didn't realize we'd be waiting three hours for folks to unpack and set up camp before heading out for some challenging trails.

Did I say "challenging?" I should have just said trails. Actually, no. I should have just said dirt roads. This turned out to be nothing more than some dirt roads.

We were a little bit disappointed with this trip. Lots of waiting, and not a lot of excitement. But, it was a chance to get away from the urban sprawl and enjoy the great outdoors. So it was still a great day in our book!

Photos:

Lined up and ready to go Everybody got lined up and ready to go at our favorite rallying point. We had 15 Jeeps total. (Only 13 are visible in this photo.)
On the road to the camp site After about a 45 minute drive, we arrived at Rock Front Ranch. This was the first dirt road in a day of nothing but dirt roads.
Driving through the hills We took most of the pictures on this trip from inside the Jeep. Since it was November, the weather wasn't exactly pleasant and warm. It was a foggy, misty, cold day all day long.
Setting up camp Here's where the campers stopped to set up camp. We thought that they were just going to get their stuff unloaded and the tents set up. But it turned into a very long break. Some of us got a bit tired of waiting, so we split off from the rest of the group.
Driving through the hills The rest of these pictures are of the five of us that split off from the rest of the group to hit the trail.
Driving through the hills We were looking for a good, challenging trail. This was the first time out for two of the Jeepers in our group. We wanted to find something for them that they could enjoy, but that was a bit more challenging and enjoyable than driving on a dirt road.
Driving through the hills Nice scenery.
Driving through the hills More nice scenery.
Driving through the hills More...
Driving through the hills There were a few spots that were slippery because of the misting rain that was coming down. Even with the slick on the road, none of us had any problems.
The girls The kids weren't as thrilled as they usually are, but they still had fun.
Driving through the hills More dirt roads.
Driving through the hills More.
Driving through the hills This hill was pretty fun. It was long and steep. Lots of slipping around on the way up. But we all made it up no problem.
Driving through the hills More nice scenery.
Lunch break We stopped at a little picnic area to have some lunch... and to talk about how we wished we could find something difficult!
Group shot Group shot.
Aspen asleep Jeeper down!
The Doerr Family These are the friends that we brought with us for their first outing. We're sorry it turned out to be a disappointment. Compared to stories of some of our past adventures, it was quite a let down for all of us. Sorry guys!
